Welcome to the Knowledge Dome!

What Every Student Deserves

Right now, there are not enough young people (especially girls and other minorities) pursuing degrees and careers in STEM fields to meet the increasing demands of the world. Schools in rural areas have tremendous challenges to overcome in their efforts to provide quality STEM education opportunities.

Geographic isolation, limited resources, reductions in funding, a lack of qualified teachers, misconceptions about STEM education, and economic disadvantages all stand in the way of successful programs for students.

The Something More to Explore Mobile Planetarium in Pecos hopes to bring quality astronomy and STEM learning right on the doorsteps of school districts and other event venues in select Texas communities. We believe that every student deserves to enjoy more learning opportunities.

About Us

We are a nonprofit startup eager to deliver quality learning experiences to schools and communities in low- to middle-income, distressed, and underserved areas in The Lone Star State. We also like to educate students about the causes and effects of light pollution and ways to preserve our dark skies.

Pursuing collaborations with other organizations, we mobilize to solicit their involvement in our outreach programs.

High-Tech STEM Learning Experiences on Wheels

In early 2018, Emmit Moore Jr. (a retired State Trooper) and his wife Louise wanted to do something to help the youth in rural areas of West Texas. Knowing the importance of having access to quality education, they felt that providing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning experiences would be beneficial.

Unfortunately, before they could accomplish their objective, Emmit passed away on July 18, 2018. Louise vowed to carry on with the mission to help prepare the youth for entry into the 21st-century workforce.

Our Mission

Something More to Explore Mobile Planetarium hosts engaging STEM learning experiences in schools and communities. We cultivate, stimulate, inspire, and build enthusiasm in students. This is our way of encouraging young people to enroll in more advanced STEM classes.
